Upcoming guest profile- David Wood USMC Veteran; Co-Founder/Owner Virtus Outdoor Group

The VIRTUS OUTDOOR GROUP Story:

David Wood spent his teen years in Knoxville, TN, and enlisted for active duty in the Marine Corps from 1999 – 2003, attaining infantry Sergeant in his first two years, and serving with SRIG (Surveillance/Reconnaissance/Intelligence Group). David was deployed four times: Panama, two Marine Expeditionary Unit floats and, following 9/11, Operation Enduring Freedom as part of the first wave of troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, David entered the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he studied philosophy and religious studies, graduating with his BA. In 2009, David moved to Hong Kong, where he did liaison work for three NGOs, founded several companies that he owns and runs under the banner of DJW Holdings, and still lives with his wife and children.

David’s passion and expertise in designing and sourcing tactical clothing, gear and camo, came out of his military service. David has wanted to utilize a tactical camo pattern, breaking away from the traditional twigs and trees and focusing instead on a 3D graphic camo specifically designed to protect the urban warrior. He has learned the fabrics/design/printing/ process working intensively and intentionally with the fabric mills, printing mills and design teams.

When David developed Virtus Outdoor Group (VOG) clothing, utilizing new camo patterns as well as new high-end tech fabrics for VOG’s three-layer jacket system, he tested it on friends and associates, all brothers-in-arms who are active duty US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) warriors. The VOG camo patterns and garments have been vigorously tested and praised by some of our county’s most elite warriors.

David is also an extreme athlete, enjoying canyoning, rock-climbing, mountaineering, and Crossfit, which led him also to design a line of athletic clothing and gear for extreme athletes. This line has been tested and is constantly being modified to suit the needs of the various extreme athletes.

What separates VOG from other brands is that it includes, we believe, the first tactical camo designed personally by veterans for today’s warriors, with SOCOM operators serving as prostaff, testing and advising the ongoing development of military clothing and gear. Similarly, veteran extreme athletes and Crossfit trainers serve as prostaff for the athletic clothing and gear. And, of course, VOG’s original concepts derive from David’s own background in the military and expertise in sourcing and design, and his network and community of partners.

Our Eagle Logo represents our love of country and our passion for freedom.

The repeated eagle’s head in our design gives the visual effect of armored camo, protecting those who stand in harm’s way to protect.

We are honored and look forward to having David on the show this month. What a way to start off the year. So standby for an incredible month motivators!
